STATESBORO, Ga. - Senior Haley Emerson went 2-for-3 as the Oakland University softball team (0-4) fell 5-4 to Binghamton and 20-0 to Lipscomb, Saturday at the Eagle Classic. Oakland will play Binghamton at 11:00 a.m., Sunday for third place.

"We had our ups and downs today," said head coach Glenn MacDonald. "I was very proud of the way we fought back against Binghamton. It was disappointing to lose in the seventh but they battled hard. After that loss, we were emotionally down against Lipscomb. I know we will bounce back tomorrow."

Down 3-0 in the opener against Binghamton, the Golden Grizzlies mounted a comeback in the bottom of the sixth. With one out, sophomore Kelsey Krych singled to third base and moved to second on a walk to Katie Dreyer. Senior Angela Cicchini was brought in to run for Dreyer.

Emerson ripped the ball past the third baseman for a single to load the bases. Oakland then brought in junior Audrey Sabourin to run for Emerson. Sophomore Leah DiCristofaro drew a walk to force Krych across the plate to make it 3-1.

Junior Danielle Peters came in to pinch hit and singled through the left side to score Cicchini. Freshman Dani Dulberg was brought in as a pinch hitter and singled to third to score Sabourin and tie the game at 3-3.

Junior Dayna Peters then took a walk to push DiCristofaro across the plate to make it 4-3 Oakland. In the top of the seventh with two outs and one on, Deannie Plemon hit a two run shot to make it 5-4, Bearcats. The Golden Grizzlies went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh to end the game.
