Golden Grizzlies Down Wayne State, 5-4

DETROIT - Freshmen Karen Karoub and Caitlin Young picked up wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, while senior Michelle Maxfield won at No. 5 and sophomore Jackie Dinicu picked up a win at No. 6 singles as the Oakland University women's tennis team (5-6) picked up a 5-4 win over Wayne State on Thursday.

Young also teamed with senior Amanda Scheer to pick up an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles to seal the OU win.

The Golden Grizzlies dropped the No. 1 and No. 2 singles and doubles points, but Oakland won all the remaining matches in straight sets, led by Dinicu's 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.

Karoub and Maxfield have now won two consecutive singles matches apiece.

The Golden Grizzlies will return to action Friday, April 10, as they face Milwaukee in Detroit. The match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
