Centenary Complete Results / Southern Utah Complete Results
LAS VEGAS - Freshman Karen Karoub picked up a pair of singles wins on the opening day of Summit League play as OU picked up a split, shutting out Centenary 7-0 before falling 5-2 to Southern Utah.
In the opening match, senior Lindsay Grimmer paced OU at No. 1 singles, picking up a 6-1, 7-6 victory over Centenary's Courtney Myers. Senior Amanda Scheer won a 6-1, 6-0 match at No. 2 singles, and Karoub, freshman Caitlin Young, and sophomore Jackie Dinicu, all swept to 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles, respectively. OU won the No. 6 singles point by default.
In doubles action, OU took the No. 3 point by default, but swept to a pair of wins as Grimmer and Karoub picked up an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while senior Michelle Maxfield partnered with junior Gabrielle Gogas at No. 2 doubles to take an 8-0 win at No. 2.
In the Southern Utah match, Karoub and Maxfield won the lone singles matches for OU at No. 3 and No. 5 respectively, while Scheer and Young paired to win a doubles match at No. 3.
OU will return to action Friday, facing IPFW in a 9 p.m. match in Las Vegas.
