John Sullivan (Saginaw, Mich.) was named Mid-Con Player of the Week after a remarkable performance in Oakland???s two-game series against Eastern Kentucky. Despite his team suffering losses in both games the junior put up astounding numbers, hitting .778 (7-9) with five home runs, eight RBIs and six runs scored. Sullivan went 4-5 in the first game as the Golden Grizzlies suffered a 10-9 loss, with two home runs, a double and three runs driven in. He hit a solo home run to break a 2-2 tie, giving Oakland (0-6) its second lead of the game. Sullivan extended Oakland???s lead in the sixth with a two-run blast. Two days later he hit three home runs in four plate appearances, driving in five runs and scoring four times. Sullivan hit a three-run shot in the first inning to help his team take an early lead. He then started the seventh inning with a solo home run as part of a four-run inning for the Golden Grizzlies. Sullivan had a 2.222 slugging percentage for the week. He currently leads the conference in home runs (5) and slugging percentage (1.083).
