Trosen drove in two runs with a double to right center as part of a three-run inning for the Golden Grizzlies. Oakland got two more runs in the third with a two-run home run from Varon before a 50-minute rain delay interrupted the game. As the rain started coming down again with two outs in the top of the seventh the Leathernecks scored their second run of the inning off of an error by Oakland shortstop
Gerry Dufour (Windsor, Ont.). The game would be delayed a second time shortly after that and was eventually called leaving two Western Illinois runners stranded. Phillips went the distance in the rain-shortened contest, only allowing one earned run on five hits, while striking out five batters for his second win of the season while Western Illinois starter James Kalinowski suffered his fifth loss.
