The Oakland University women's golf team finished in a tie for sixth place at the EKU Lady Colonel Classic April 11-13 in Richmond, Kentucky. OU shot 326-315-326--967 at the three-day 54-hole event. For the fifth consecutive tournament, senior
Cheryl Tooshkenig (Wallaceburg, Ontario) led the Golden Grizzlies individually. OU finished in the tie for sixth place behind Toledo, Murray State, Austin Peay, Western Carolina and Eastern Kentucky and tied with Butler. Oakland finished ahead of Xavier, WEstern Kentucky, Youngstown State, Texas-Pan American, Tennessee Tech, Ball State, IUPUI and Lipscomb. Connie Apalit (Pittsburg, PA/Pittsburg HS) and junior
Emily Minnich (Geneva, Indiana/South Adams HS) rounded off OU's top three finishers. Apalit finished in a tie for 23rd after shooting 85-78-78--241 and Minnich finished in a tie for 38th (80-82-85--247). The Golden Grizzlies will wrap up the regular season on Monday, April 15 at the Dayton Invitational in Dayton, Ohio.
