The Oakland University baseball team snapped a 10-game losing streak in Dayton, Ohio on Saturday afternoon with a 17-6 victory over the Raiders of Wright State. OU fell in the nightcap, 4-0, to WSU. The Golden Grizzlies stand at 1-11 overall after the three-game series in Dayton, while the Raiders are 2-8 following the home stand. In the first game, OU scored 17 runs on 19 hits and committed only two errors. Wright State scored six runs on nine hits and committed four errors. Oakland started the first game of the doubleheader on a mission and scored five runs in both the first and second innings. OU also scored three runs in the fourth, one in the sixth, one in the seventh and eighth in the eighth. Leading the way for the Golden Grizzlies was
Peter Varon who went 4-6, with one double and one run scored.

Brad Morenko (1-1) was the winning pitcher for the Golden Grizzlies after throwing 6.0 innings to start the game. Morenko gave up seven hits, five runs, three earned runs, walked two and struck out five.
Steve Kniebbe came in relief of Morenko and threw the final 3.0 innings. Kniebbe gave up two hits, one run, one earned run, walked four and struck out six. In the final game of the doubleheader, the Golden Grizzlies were held scoreless and Wright State scored two in the third and fourth innings. Dominic Carmosino (0-3) was the pitcher of record for OU as he threw a complete game. Carmosino threw 6.0 innings, gave up five hits, four runs, two earned runs, walked three and struck out four. The Golden Grizzlies will next play at home on Saturday, March 16 against the Chippewas of Central Michigan. The doubleheader will begin at 12 noon.
