The Oakland University men's baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Bowling Green on Wednesday May 2 in Bowling Green, Ohio. Oakland fell 14-13 and 10-0 to drop to 8-36 overall. In game one BGSU scored one run in the first inning and four more in the second to take a 5-0 lead after two innings. OU rallied back with three runs of its own in the third, but Bowling Green exploded for nine runs to take a 14-3 lead and held on for the victory. OU put together a big fifth inning scoring six runs while adding two in the sixth and seventh but it wasn't enough for a win.
Chris Kimball led the offensive attack going 4-for-5 from the plate with two runs. Seniors
Rob Brockman,
Kip Harris, and
Casey Caid each added two hits of their own. Brockman scored two runs, Harris also scored two runs with six RBI and Caid added a run with three RBI. OU combined for 15 hits on the game. The losing pitcher was
Brad Morenko whose record falls to 1-8. In the second game Bowling Green managed to shut-out the Golden Grizzlies by scoring four runs in the first inning, three in the second, two in the third, and one in the fourth to run away with the victory. Leading OU offensively was Kimball who went 2-for-3. Brockman, Caid, and
Erik Crossley combined for one hit apiece. The losing pitcher was
Brent Brown who drops to 0-1 on the season. OU will be in action again on Saturday May 5th as the Penguins of Youngstown State visit Oakland University for a Mid-Continent Conference match-up. Game time is noon.
