Dominic Carmosino (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier HS) went 7.0 innings, giving up five hits, three runs, zero earned runs, walking four and striking out a season-high 10. Freshman righthanded pitcher Steve Kneibbe (Bridgeport/Bridgeport HS) picked up the victory in relief throwing a scoreless eighth inning. Kneibbe improves to 3-3 overall. Leading Oakland offensively was DiPonio, Harris and Brockman. DiPonio went 2-for-4 with two doubles, Harris went 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run (9) and Brockman went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Caid chipped in with a 1-for-4 performance, including his game-winning grand slam for his seventh homer of the season. Western Illinois jumped on top of Oakland in the nightcap with two runs in the third inning after a couple errors by the Grizzlies to lead 2-0.
