SYLVANIA, Ohio. – Freshman Hunter Edwards recorded her second consecutive top-10 finish, tying for third at the Rocket Classic on Tuesday. Her 54-hole score of 225 (+12) helped the women's golf team earn its first runner-up finish of the season.

Competing at the Highland Meadows Golf Course (par-71, 6,118 yards), Oakland finished second with a team score of 910 (+58), trailing only Central Michigan by seven strokes. The Chippewas led the field in the first and third rounds, while the Golden Grizzlies posted the invitational's best team score in the second round on Monday, shooting 291 (+7).

Edwards improved her season-best finish after placing 10th at the A-Ga-Ming Invitational. She tied for the most birdies in the invitational with eight and ranked in the top five for both par-3 and par-5 averages.

Finishing just outside the top 10 was freshman Avery Manning, who placed 11th with a 229 (+16). During the second round, she carded her first under-par round, leading Oakland with a score of 70 (-1). Manning recorded eight birdies, five of which came in the second round, and tied for 10th in par-5 average at an even 5.0.

Sophomore Logan Bentley recorded the team's only eagle, finishing the 436-yard, par-5 16th hole in three strokes during the third round. She tied for 14th overall, ranked among the tournament leaders with a 4.89 par-5 average, and tied for sixth in birdies with six.

Senior Lily Bargamian and sophomore Channing Hagen rounded out Oakland's team lineup, tying for 17th and 34th, respectively.  Bargamian joined Bentley and Edwards with a 4.89 par-5 average, while Hagen ranked among the top five in both par-3 and par-4 scoring averages. Freshman Adrianna Mineo finished 42nd as an individual.
