ROCHESTER, Mich. — Oakland (10-32, 5-15 HL) fell in the series to Wright State (21-22, 14-3 HL) with a Saturday final score of 6-1 on at the Oakland Baseball Field on Senior Day. Oakland supplied a run in the seventh inning with a home run, contributing to their seven hits for the game. Wright State secured the win with a steady stream of runs from the sixth inning onward, totaling six runs on ten hits.
Grad senior Carter Hain led the team with three hits, while driving in the lone run. Freshman starter Josh Rosenblitt pitched a career-high six innings, striking out six batters. Junior Ryan Donley contributed on the mound by recording one strikeout in 2/3 innings of relief, as redshirt-junior Sam Griffith added to the offense with one hit and maintained a solid presence at third base on defense.
After five scoreless frames between both teams, Wright State got on the board first in the sixth inning with an RBI double and RBI single to take the lead at 2-0.
In the seventh inning, Wright State added another run with an RBI fielder's choice before Oakland responded with a solo home run into left field by Hain, bringing a two-run ballgame.
The Raiders increased their lead in the eighth inning with a two-RBI single and an RBI single in the ninth. The Golden Grizzlies managed two hits in their half of the ninth to attempt a comeback but was unable to score.
Rosenblitt led Oakland's pitching effort with a solid six innings of work, allowing six hits and two runs, while earning six punch outs for a career-high. Donley contributed 2/3 inning, giving up a hit but no runs, and picking up a strikeout, before sophomore Wyatt Ruppenthal saw 2/3 innings of action, allowing two hits and an earned run. Senior Tanner Ware closed the game with 1/3 inning, earning a K without allowing a hit or run.
