INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On Thursday, the league announced junior
Olivia Hemmila as the Under Armour #HLGOLF Athlete of the Week for March 19-25.
Hemmila earns the women's program's first #HLGOLF honor of the season and the first of her Oakland career. She joins freshman Rakshit Dahiya from the men's team as a recipient of the award this season.
At the NKU Julie Invitational, the Troy, Michigan, native was crowned champion after leading the field across all three rounds. Hemmila recorded a 54-hole total of 221 (+7) over two days of play at the Elks Run Golf Course. The victory marks her first collegiate title, her fifth top-20 finish of the season, and the first individual championship by a Golden Grizzlies women's golfer since 2024.
Her 70-74-77 performance is her best 54-hole score of the year. In addition to winning the event, Hemmila led the NKU Julie Invitational in par-three scoring average (2.75). She also ranked in the top three in pars (35) and birdies (7), and finished inside the top 10 in both par-four (4.31) and par-five (5.00) scoring averages.
Powered by Hemmila's performance, Oakland captured the team title, finishing 23 strokes ahead of the runner-up and defeating all five Horizon League women's golf programs in the field. It marked the Golden Grizzlies' first regular-season championship since fall 2023 and their first team-and-individual sweep since 2017.
The Golden Grizzlies have one final event before traveling to the Horizon League Championships in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, where Hemmila and her teammates will pursue the first three-peat in program history.
