MARION, Ind. - The Golden Grizzlies wrapped up competition at the Polar Bear Invite on Saturday with a strong showing in the middle-distance events, highlighted by a win and several top-10 finishes.
Oakland saw three runners place inside the top 10 in the women's 1500m, led by Makenzie Lemke, who finished fifth with a time of 4:57.34.
Maggie Hall followed closely behind in seventh (5:00.39), while
Sophy Skeels rounded out the group with a 10th-place finish (5:02.81).
On the men's side of the 1500m, Josiah Magely turned in a podium performance, placing third in 4:04.17.
Lucas Kuhn (4:06.40) and
Mamdouh Abukaram (4:08.76) also delivered solid efforts for the Golden Grizzlies, adding depth in the event.
The highlight of the day came in the women's 800m, where
Abigail Rice claimed first place with a personal-record time of 2:18.63, leading Oakland's charge.
In the men's 800m,
Josh Cundy added another top-five finish for the Golden Grizzlies, placing fifth with a time of 1:57.05.
Oakland will look to build on this momentum as the outdoor season continues, traveling to NC State Raleigh Relays and to Cedarville Invite next weekend.
