ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland women's tennis team will host its first match of the season on Thursday at Pine Lake Country Club in West Bloomfield Township, taking on Bradley University. First serve is set for 12 p.m. (EST).

The Golden Grizzlies (2-5) are looking to get back in the win column after dropping their last three matches. In their most recent outing, Oakland fell to both Western Michigan (5-4) and Valparaiso (4-3), with the deciding points coming down to the final courts. 

Juniors Emilia Jarvinen and Edie Hammond showed why they are one of the Horizon League's top doubles pairings, winning both of their matches and helping Oakland secure its first doubles point in five contests. In singles, freshman Oliwia Klimas is on an impressive run, having won six straight singles matches, and will look for her seventh against Bradley.

SCOUTING THE BRAVES
Bradley (2-4) will face the Golden Grizzlies before taking on Eastern Michigan on Friday, who edged Oakland earlier in the season, 4-3. The Braves have dropped their last two matches, most recently to SIUE. Although Bradley secured the doubles point and an early 1-0 lead, the Cougars took four of the six singles matches to earn a 4-3 victory.

This will be the sixth all-time meeting between the Braves and the Golden Grizzlies. The first matchup during the 1999-2000 season resulted in an 8-1 Oakland victory. From 2009 to 2012, the teams met every winter, with Bradley going 3-1 over that span. The Braves currently hold the series edge, having won the most recent meeting, 6-1, in 2012.
