Golden Grizzlies Play Host to Northern Kentucky Sunday

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland Golden Grizzlies are back on the Blacktop for a Sunday matinee, hosting Northern Kentucky inside the OU Credit Union O'rena on Sunday, Feb. 1. Tipoff in Rochester is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

The Golden Grizzlies (13-10, 9-3 HL) stay put in second place in the Horizon League after securing a 74-65 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne Wednesday evening inside the Gates Sports Center.

Fifth-year Michael Houge recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, including two off the offensive glass. Fifth-year Brett White II added 13 points, including three three-pointers, while also collecting a season-high total of 11 rebounds for his first Oakland career double-double of the season, as fifth-year Tuburu Naivalurua matched his teammate with 13 points and contributed defensively with two blocks and two steals. Senior Brody Robinson, who has recorded at least 13 total points in three consecutive games, finished with 13 points and was effective at the free-throw line, converting seven of 10 attempts, marking the second consecutive game he has converted at least seven free throws as he leads the nation.

Robinson is getting national attention for his marks in assists and free throws this season. The point guard is ranked 8th in the NCAA in total assists (145 assists) and 21st in assists/game (6.3 apg). From the line, the Houston native is second in the country in three throws made, netting 148 shots from the line this season as he leads the country in free throw attempts with 192 tries.

SCOUTING THE NORSE
With an even .500 posting in the Horizon League, head coach Darrin Horn and the Norse are still ahead leading the league in offense, averaging 84.3 points/game as Donovan Oday individually leads the pack with 18.6 points. Noted as one of the best turnover-causing teams in the country, they are averaging 18.6 points off turnovers this season, as NKU won the turnover battle 15-8 in their loss against Detroit Mercy on Friday, scoring 29 points.

The Golden Grizzlies snuck past Horn and NKU back in December. Houge poured in 18 points and eight rebounds, converting all four of his free-throw attempts, as Isaac Garrett contributed a double-double for the second-straight game with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while also dishing out five assists.
