Oakland Set for Robert Morris in Rochester

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Head coach Greg Kampe and the Oakland Golden Grizzlies are back inside the OU Credit Union O'rena for the first time in a month to take on the defending HL Tournament Champion, Robert Morris, on Sunday, Jan. 4 at 3 p.m. ET.

The Golden Grizzlies (7-8, 3-1 HL) are now in a four-way tie for first place in the Horizon League after a gritty 85-83 win at Youngstown State on New Years Day.

Junior Isaac Garrett posted his third double-double of the season, leading the team and achieving an Oakland career-high of 27 points and 14 rebounds, while also setting a season best with 9 field goals. Fifth-year Brett White II also shot career-high on the floor, picking up 22 points, including five three-pointers, and collected six board as Fifth-year Tuburu Naivalurua marked the third consecutive game in recording at least 14 points, as the Australian tallied 14 along with two rebounds and a block on defense. The Golden Grizzlies' assists-leader, senior Brody Robinson added on eight points and dished out seven assists, facilitating the scoring opportunities in the paint.

Senior point guard Brody Robinson was named to the Lou Henson Award Early Season Watch List. The Houston native is leading the Golden Grizzlies in scoring (16.8 ppg) and assists (5.9 apg) – ranked 30th in the nation in dishing passes and 18th with 81 total assists this season. The 5'10" shooter picked up a double-double (12 points, 10 assists) against Lamar, and shot a career-high 27 points against Purdue Fort Wayne and Wright State.

SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
After winning the Horizon League's automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Tournament, head coach Andrew Toole and the Colonials were picked to finish the league in fourth place according to the #HLMBB Preseason Poll. Currently with a 3-2 conference record this season, RMU's 11-5 overall campaign posts as the best in the Horizon League thus far. The Colonials are led by Preseason All-League Second Team selection, DeSean Goode, who leads in scoring (14.8 ppg) and rebounding (9.2 rpg) – leading the league in boards per game. Robert Morris is third in the Horizon League in scoring defense, letting 71.6 points up per game.
 

Oakland to finish the league in third place according to the #HLMBB Preseason Poll. Youngstown State owns an 8-6 overall record in the 2025-26 season, posting .500 at 2-2 in the Horizon League with wins over Wright State and IU Indy. Named to the 2025-26 Preseason All-League First Team, senior Cris Carroll is leading YSU with 17.1 ppg and ranked second in the Horizon. On the other side of the ball, the Penguins are second in the league in scoring defense (69.3 points) and scoring margin this season (9.6).

The Golden Grizzlies lead the all-time series with Robert Morris at 10-5, yet have dropped the last three meetings with the Colonials, despite taking the eventual Horizon League Tournament Champions to overtime in the semifinals in the 2025 tournament.
