Oakland to Travel to for Midweek Game at Purdue Fort Wayne

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Head coach Greg Kampe and the Oakland Golden Grizzlies are back on the road to take on Purdue Fort Wayne inside the Gates Sports Center on Wednesday, Jan. 28. Tipoff in Fort Wayne is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

The Golden Grizzlies (12-10, 8-3 HL) secured a 95-87 victory over #MetroSeries rival Detroit Mercy at Calihan Hall on Saturday.

Senior Ziare Wells netted a season-high of 24 points, hitting a career-high 11 of his 13 field goal attempts and adding three assists. Senior Brody Robinson also tallied 24 points, converting all nine of his free throws and contributing 10 assists for his fourth double-double of the season, marking the second consecutive game Robinson dished out double-digit assists. Fifth-year Tuburu Naivalurua finished with 16 points and collected eight rebounds off the glass while making all six of his free throw attempts. Fifth-year Michael Houge added 15 points and recorded six rebounds, securing four on the offensive glass.

Robinson is getting national attention for his marks in assists and free throws this season. The point guard is ranked 6th in the NCAA in total assists (140 assists) and 17th in assists/game (6.4 apg). From the line, the Houston native is second in the country in three throws made, netting 141 shots from the line this season as he leads the country in free throw attempts with 182 tries.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
Now with a 7-3 league record, head coach Jon Coffman and Purdue Fort Wayne have won six games this season when they've trailed for more than 10 minutes, highlighted by three of their starting five averaging over 14 points/game this season. Corey Hadnot II is averaging 20.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.8 steals. He is one of four players in NCAA Division I men's basketball averaging 20/4/3/1.5.

Oakland is coming off of a 101-92 throttle of Purdue Fort Wayne to open their Horizon League slate back in early December. Along with 13 threes from the team, Robinson led the team with a then career-high 27 points, converting four three-pointers and 9 of 14 free throws, while also tying a career-high with seven field goals and dishing out at least eight assists for the third consecutive game.
