ROCHESTER, Mich. – In its 12th year, Oakland and Detroit Mercy are back for the annual branded #MetroSeries match up on Dick Vitale Court inside Calihan Hall tomorrow, Jan. 24. The two schools branded the annual #MetroSeries rivalry in 2013, with points awarded to the school with the most head-to-head victories over the academic year in all competed sports. Tipoff in Detroit is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
Despite a strong performance from beyond the arc with 10 three-pointers, Oakland (11-10, 7-3 HL) fell to IU Indianapolis, 103-85, on Wednesday night at the OU Credit Union O'rena.
Junior Isaac Garrett led the Black and Gold with 18 points, shooting 7-of-9 from the field, and added four rebounds, marking the second consecutive game with seven made field goals. Senior Brody Robinson posted a career-high 11 assists while contributing 13 points, shooting 40% from three, and two steals. Fifth-year Michael Houge also scored 13 points, hitting six of 10 field goals, and recorded two blocks from the boards. Fifth-year Brett White II tallied 13 points, converting four three-pointers from 10 attempts to lead Oakland from the arc.
Robinson is getting national attention for his marks in assists and free throws this season. The point guard is ranked 6th in the NCAA in total assists (130 assists) and 22nd in assists/game (6.2 apg). From the line, the Houston native is second in the country in three throws made, earning 132 shots from the line this season as he leads the country in free throw attempts with 173 tries.

SCOUTING THE TITANS
In his second season, Mark Montgomery and Detroit Mercy are an even 5-5 in League play, as they have a deep roster that is second in the Horizon League and 50th in the nation, tallying 29.9 bench points per game. Preseason All-Horizon League guard senior Orlando Lovejoy leads the team in assists (3.9) and steals (2.1), while second in scoring (13.1). TJ Nadeau has netted double figures in 12 of his 18 games, averaging 13.5 points per game this season for the Titans.
The Golden Grizzlies are on a four-game winning streak against the Titans, also overtaking the all-time series against their rivals, 22-15. Oakland has won the last 21 of 25 meetings since joining the Horizon League and is 11-12 inside Calihan Hall.
