KALAMAZOO, Mich - The Oakland men's cross country team picked up its first team win of the season as the women kept up the momentum on the course as freshman Eliza Bush earned another top-five spot this season at the George Dales Invitational at Western Michigan.
Bush led the Oakland women with a second-place finish in the 6k, clocking in with a time of 21:12.30. On the course at the Prairies Golf Club, freshman Ava Alicandro added to the team, finishing 28th with 22:27.00 on the timer, while junior Anne May (22:46.60), senior Haileigh Bissett (23:08.60), and freshman Sophy Skeels (23:12.90) rounded out the top five finishers for the Golden Grizzlies.
Senior Wesley Hollowell wrapped up the morning in second-place finishing with an 8k time of 24:41.20. Fifth-year Tristan Brandenburg followed closely behind in fifth place (24:51.30), while fifth-year Anthony Hancock took the final spot in the top-10 on the men's side in sixth place (24:54.20). Junior Carter McCalister (25:11.70) and sophomore Ethan Sandula (25:39.10) closed out the team's points on Friday.
Next on the schedule for OU is the Joe Paine Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame on Oct. 3 in South Bend.
