EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Golden Grizzlies men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Southern Indiana, University of Evansville and the Evansville Regional Economic Partnership, this afternoon with strong finishes from both teams.
The men's team put forth a strong showing at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, finishing 17th overall with 502 points in a deep and competitive field with an average time of 32:36.73.
Anthony Hancock led the way for Oakland, clocking 31:52.89 to secure 63rd place. Wesley Hollowell followed closely behind, finishing 78th in 32:15.57. Carter McCalister added another strong performance, crossing the line in 93rd place with a time of 32:24.14. Tristan Brandenburg (32:54.72) and Joe Shaya (33:36.34) rounded out the top-five, finishing in 122nd and 153rd places, respectively. Lucas Kuhn (36:15.56) and Josiah Magley (36:51.63) also contributed a solid effort to the team's performance.
The women's team also showcased their consistency, earning 22nd place with 621 points and an average 6K time of 22:24.
The Horizon League's 2025 Women's Freshman of the Year, Eliza Bush, led the charge for the Golden Grizzlies with a stellar performance, finishing 80th overall with a time of 21:39.56. Hannah DeRoeck was next for Oakland, placing 124th in 22:17.18, while Haileigh Bissett contributed a strong showing right behind with her 125th-place finish in 22:19.91. Ava Alicandro (22:46.08) and Anne May (22:57.28) rounded out the top-five in 157th and 164th places, respectively. Amy Rowan (23:39.60) and Genavieve Kushner-Lopez (23:43.99) provided valuable depth to the team effort.
