ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland Volleyball has announced their 2025 schedule, featuring a dynamic mix of non-conference matchups, annual classics, and Horizon League showdowns in what is sure to be an exciting upcoming season.

Non‑Conference Schedule

The Golden Grizzlies will compete in four invitationals and tournaments to start the fall, facing a wide array of teams from across the nation.

Western Michigan Tournament  | Aug. 29-31

• Oakland begins their season with a cross-state trip to Kalamazoo to take part in the Western Michigan Tournament. From Aug. 29 to Aug. 31 the Golden Grizzlies will face-off against the host team Western Michigan Broncos, DePaul, and Illinois State to kick off the fall.

 
Ellesyn Invitational | Sep. 5-6

• The Golden Grizzlies will make their first ever trip to Missoula, Mont. as they put their names in the hat during the Ellesyn Invitational, hosted by the University of Montana. Oakland will play a pair of matches on Sep. 5, taking on the host Montana Grizzlies in a battle of the bears, and close out the day with a prime time match against North Dakota State. They will play a tournament finale on Sep. 6 against Montana as well.

 
Golden Grizzly Invite | Sep. 12-13

• For the third consecutive season Oakland will host the Golden Grizzly Invite. Over two days of action, the Golden Grizzlies will host Southern Illinois and Xavier, both on the first day, and close out with a match against Eastern Michigan on Sep. 13, marking the first of two meetings during the season between the Eagles and Golden Grizzlies. Oakland will also travel to Bowling Green State University on Sep. 17 for a quick one-off match before their next invitational.

 
Butler Invitational | Sep. 19-20

• In their final pair of non-conference matches Oakland will travel just south to Butler University. Oakland will face off with in-state foe Eastern Michigan on Sep. 19, before closing their stay in Indy against Butler.

Conference Schedule

The Golden Grizzlies transition into the meat and potatoes of their season, kicking things into high gear against a slate of Horizon League opponents.


Conference Opener

• The Golden Grizzlies get things into full swing on Sep. 26 as they open conference play on the road against Milwaukee.
• Oakland will play four of their first five conference matches on the road, traveling to Robert Morris on Oct. 4-5 for their second conference series.

Conference Home Opener

• Oakland will pack the OU Credit Union O'Rena for their first home conference game on Sep. 30 as they host Cleveland State

 
Home Cookin'

• Oakland will play four consecutive home matches from Oct. 10-18, taking on Purdue Fort Wayne (Oct. 10-11) and Green Bay (Oct. 17-18) in back-to-back series. This will be the first of two separate occasions where the Golden Grizzlies will play four straight at home.

 
Back on the Road

• Following their home stand Oakland will play three road matches, consisting of a series at IU-Indy (Oct. 24-25) and a single game at Cleveland State (Oct. 28)

 
Final Stretch

• The Golden Grizzlies will play four of their last six at home, as Youngstown State (Oct. 31 - Nov. 1) and Northern Kentucky (Nov. 7-8) visit Rochester.
• Oakland's final games of the regular season will be at Wright State (Nov. 14-15)
