Four Golden Grizzlies Named to #HLBASE All-League Awards

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Horizon League announced their 2025 #HLBASE Season Awards, naming Golden Grizzlies Grant Garman, Matt McGann, Brandon Nigh, and John Lauinger to the All-League Second Team.

Garman was named to the All-League Second Team and All-Freshman Team, stamping a sensational opening season. His name stamped across the top of many statistical categories, Garman ranked third in ERA (5.67), sixth in opposing batting average (.275), third in innings pitched (73), and fifth in strikeouts (63) among all Horizon League pitchers. He also totaled six appearances where he struck out at least six batters, leaving his mark as one of the conference's premier pitchers of the future.

John Lauinger was also named to the All-League Second Team. A senior from Scottsdale, Az., the star outfielder notched a team-best .351 batting average, 45 runs scored and 72 hits. He also tallied 34 RBIs and 24 stolen bases, third most in the conference. Lauinger tallied two walk-off hits, against Central Michigan (4/22) and Purdue Fort Wayne (5/2), while also blazing a 10-game hitting streak from 4/22 to 5/10. Lauinger was also named a Sportsmanship Award Finalist in the postseason awards.

Finishing up a historical career with his first All-League nod since his freshman year, is Brandon Nigh. Hitting .256 with 19 doubles, which ranks top five in the conference, the senior from Temperance, Mich. had a bit of a resurgence at the plate. Over a five game stretch from 4/21 to 4/27, he blasted three home runs and four RBIs. A mix of power and speed, tallying 15 stolen bases, Nigh did everything the team needed this season. Earning the All-League spot in the flex position, he was also one of the most versatile players in the conference, playing between shortstop and third base, as an elite defensive player.

The last Oakland name etched onto the list, making All-Second Team, is Matt McGann. In his lone season as a Golden Grizzly, McGann led the team in slugging percentage (.538), home runs (7) and RBIs (44), ranking tenth in the conference in RBIs as well. With a walk-off hit against Northern Kentucky (3/21) and 19 multi-hit games to his name, the catcher from Sterling Heights, Mich. dominated in the batters box this season. He also stood out behind the plate, with a near-perfect fielding percentage and just one error as a catcher.
