Wright State added four more in the fourth, but the Golden Grizzlies struck again in the fifth.
Carter Hain came through with a clutch two-run home run to make it 13-4 as Oakland had four innings to continue to claw back.
Oakland's offense found another surge in the sixth, posting four runs to keep the game within reach. One more run in the seventh put the game within reach, making the once 10-run deficit turn to five runs.
Wright State always had the answer though as it plated a trio of runs between the seventh and eighth. Oakland had one final look to knot things up, as
Ben Clark hit a sacrifice fly to bring in a run, but the comeback fell short as Oakland lost, 17-10.
