Box Score MUNCIE, Ind. – The Oakland women's tennis team put up a strong fight against Ball State on Sunday, but the Cardinals secured the victory in a competitive match.
Oakland faced tough competition in doubles, with
Emilia Jarvinen and
Warisara "Best" Lee at the No. 1 spot falling 6-1 to Ball State's Isabelle Tanjuatco and Sarah Shahbaz. At No. 2 doubles,
Martyna Piechowicz and
Edie Hammond were in a close battle against Chloe Brown and Alana Bristow before their match was left unfinished at 4-2. In the No. 3 spot,
Nisa Bulut and
Josie Ward fell 6-1 to Jemima Williams-Phillips and Ella Hazelbaker, giving Ball State the doubles point.
In singles action,
Emilia Jarvinen led the way at No. 1, battling through a competitive match but ultimately falling 6-2, 6-4 to Elena Malykh. At No. 2,
Nisa Bulut dropped her match 6-3, 6-3 to Jemima Williams-Phillips. Oakland continued to fight across all courts, but Ball State proved too strong on the day.
Despite the final result, Oakland showed resilience and will look to bounce back in their next match-up.
