Oakland Set to Host Toledo For Ninth Consecutive Matchup

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Golden Grizzlies men's basketball team is slated for a final home game in December as they play host to I-75 rival, Toledo, for the ninth consecutive meeting since 2017. Action begins for the team's annual Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. inside the OU Credit Union O'rena.

The Golden Grizzlies (4-5, 1-0 HL) opened Horizon League action this week, cementing triple-digits and 13 three-pointers in a 101-92 win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday.

Senior Brody Robinson led the team with a career-high 27 points, converting four three-pointers and 9 of 14 free throws, while also tying a career-high with seven field goals and dishing out at least eight assists for the third consecutive game. Junior Isaac Garrett contributed 15 points, shooting 5-for-8 from the field and adding one 3-pointer, alongside four assists. Notably, Garrett has made at least five field goals in seven consecutive games. Sophomore Nassim Mashhour scored 13 points, including three opening three-pointers, and collected seven rebounds. Fifth-year Brett White II added nine points, making all three of his 3-point attempts and recording two blocks, while fifth-year Tuburu Naivalurua has accumulated at least 12 total points in four consecutive games and has totaled at least five rebounds in two straight games with his game tonight.

Tip-off in Rochester will be available to watch on ESPN+ with The Voice of the Golden Grizzlies Neal Ruhl (PxP) and Darryl Jacobs (Color) on the call. They both will also be on the radio call on 97.1HD-3/1270am or the Audacy App online.

As a reminder to fans, because of repairs to the University's high-temperature hot water system, P17 and the North VIP entrance into OU Credit Union O'rena are closed.

Parking for athletic events is available in P16, P26, or P29 (parking garage off of Pioneer Drive). Spectators can only enter the OU Credit Union O'rena through the main entrance on the southwest side from Pioneer Drive.

The air temperature in OU Credit Union O'rena may be slightly colder than previous basketball games. Should any changes arise, updates will be shared through GoldenGrizzlies.com and social media platforms.

SCOUTING THE ROCKETS
Noted as one of the best mid-majors this season, Toledo is receiving votes, like Oakland, in the CollegeInsider.com MidMajor Top 25 poll and posting a 5-3 record overall record. The Rockets have taken care of the Horizon League opponents so far on their schedule, Wright State, Detroit Mercy, and Youngstown State, while also picking up victories over Troy and Division I Central State. The Rockets are led by Detroit-native Sonny Wilson who has collected double-digit points in every game with a 15.5 points/game average. Toledo leads the all-time series, 13-8, with the Golden Grizzlies hammering down on their opponent 85-52 in last year's meeting in Savage Arena.
