ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland men's basketball is set for its annual meeting with No. 9 Michigan State downtown at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday, December 20 at 12 p.m. ET.
Back into Horizon League action, Oakland (6-6, 2-0 HL) took care of Northern Kentucky, 82-77, on Wednesday to move back into first-place in the league.
Fifth-year Michael Houge led the team with 18 points and eight rebounds, converting all four of his free-throw attempts. Junior Isaac Garrett contributed a double-double for the second-straight game with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while also dishing out five assists. Senior Brody Robinson tallied 16 points and was perfect from the line with eight makes, adding six assists. Junior Khoi Thurmon made an impact on defense, recording four steals, and bringing about a season-high points on offense for the point guard.
On Thursday, senior point guard Brody Robinson was named to the Lou Henson Award Early Season Watch List. The Houston native is leading the Golden Grizzlies in scoring (16.3 ppg) and assists (6.1 apg) – ranked 23rd in the nation in dishing passes and 12th with 73 total assists this season. The 5'10" shooter picked up a double-double (12 points, 10 assists) against Lamar, and shot a career-high 27 points in Oakland's Horizon League opener against Purdue Fort Wayne.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
Opening the 2025-26 season and voted 22nd in the AP Top 25 preseason poll, Tom Izzo and the Spartans have moved up to the No. 9 spot in week 7 after a 10-1 record, with their lonesome loss occurring in a 60-66 decision against Duke in the Breslin Center. Michigan State is led by Jaxon Kohler on both sides of the ball (14.0 ppg and 10.1 rpg) and nationally by Jeremy Fears Jr., leading the country with 9.5 assists/game. Longtime friends, Coach Kampe and Izzo's squads will meet for the 24th time in program history, Michigan State taking the lead in the series at 0-23. Saturday will be the fourth time since 2019 the Golden Grizzlies and Spartans have met in Little Caesars Arena.
