ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Golden Grizzlies men's basketball team is set to face Northern Iowa of the Missouri Valley Conference on the road at the McLeod Center on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. ET. 

Oakland (5-5, 1-0 HL) topped one of the best mid-majors this season in Toledo on Saturday, 98-97, in the OU Credit Union O'rena to close out the home slate in December.

Senior Ziare Wells scored a season-high 21 points and recorded four rebounds, leading the offensive effort. Senior Brody Robinson tallied 19 points, including three 3-pointers, and contributed six assists. This marked the third consecutive game Robinson has scored at least 19 points and he also achieved a career high with eight field goals.

Fifth-year Tuburu Naivalurua added 18 points, with two blocks and two steals, achieving at least 5 total rebounds in three consecutive games, while junior Isaac Garrett posted 11 points and collected eight rebounds while blocking three shots, continuing his streak of scoring at least 11 total points in eight consecutive games.

Northern Iowa is voted 11th in the CollegeInsider.com MidMajor Top 25 poll, posting a 7-2 overall record as they were selected runner-up in the MVC Preseason Poll. 20-year head coach Ben Jacobson and the Panthers only losses have come to Tulsa and in overtime against Wichita State. Redshirt junior Leon Bond III leads in scoring with 12.8 points/game and boards with 5.1 rebounds/game along with fifth-year Tristan Smith. UNI is outscoring opponents by 16.0 points, holding defenses to an average of 57.4 points. The Golden Grizzlies and Panthers have never met in program history, Oakland is 3-9 against Missouri Valley Conference teams, not including former shared conference members in Valparaiso and UIC.
