Women's Basketball Falls to Charlotte in Raising the B.A.R Finale

BERKELEY, Ca. — Oakland closed out their time at the Raising the B.A.R Invitational with a 66-41 loss to Charlotte, in a game where the Golden Grizzlies struggled offensively, shooting a season-low 26.7% from the field and committing 17 turnovers as a team.

The game opened with the Golden Grizzlies delivering a strong performance, highlighted by a Sereniti Roberts-Adams and-one at 7:03, pushing Oakland ahead 7–5. Makenzie Luehring's consecutive baskets, including a three-pointer with 5:19 left, extended Oakland's advantage to 12–9. Layla Gold nailed a crucial three-pointer with 39 seconds left, giving Oakland an 18–16 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In a strong opening quarter, Layla Gold led all players with six points on a pair of triples, while Luehring and Lianna Baxter were constant forces, as Baxter tallied two steals in the quarter.

Oakland struggled to find rhythm in the second quarter, managing only seven points. Despite an early free throw from Karinna Trotter at 9:43 that initially edged them ahead, they were unable to sustain momentum. Filippa Goula's layup at 6:18 brought Oakland within four, but the 49ers capitalized on their opportunities, outscoring Oakland 20-7 in the frame, pulling ahead to a 36–25 lead by halftime.

Gold led all players with eight points in the first half, while Luehring filled up the stat sheet with seven points and six rebounds.

Oakland faced a challenging third quarter as Charlotte extended their lead early with a 3-pointer by Zoe Best at 9:32. Despite this, Oakland managed to narrow the gap with two consecutive layups by Goula, assisted by Makenzie Luehring, bringing the score to 29–39. However, the 49ers responded with another scoring run to widen the margin further to 29–45. Oakland's efforts continued with Goula sinking a 3-pointer at 4:51, but Charlotte maintained control, closing the quarter ahead 52–33.

Oakland made efforts to narrow the gap in the final quarter, as Goula drained another jumper at 8:43. Roberts-Adams contributed with a layup at 6:44, assisted by Cali Denson, as part of Oakland's inside scoring focus. Despite these efforts, Charlotte's persistent offense, highlighted by Princess Anderson's consecutive 3-pointers, as the game ended with Charlotte securing a 66-41 victory.

Goula led all Oakland players with 13 points (6-for-13 FG) and five rebounds.

In their next game, Oakland will travel to East Lansing to face Michigan State University on Sunday, Nov. 23.
