Box Score DAYTON, Ohio – Golden Grizzlies lose a close match to the Dayton Flyers in Friday's match up.
The Oakland Women's Tennis team went back and forth with the Dayton Flyers during singles play.
Edie Hammond defeated Dayton's Laura Greb 2-6, 6-1, 7-5, to give the Golden Grizzlies their first team point of the match.
Nisa Bulut and Warisara "Best" Lee had the Dayton Flyers on the ropes, going into a tiebreak, but eventually falling to the Flyers.
Martyna Piechowicz earned the next team point for the Golden Grizzlies by defeating Haley Klein 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. The Golden Grizzlies found their third team point courtesy of
Josie Ward. Ward defeated Dayton's Grace Murphy 6-4, 6-2.
Going into doubles play, the match was tied, 3-3. The Flyers' Natalie Osiecki and Stela Vlaisavljevic defeated
Emilia Jarvinen and Warisara "Best" Lee by a score of 6-3. Then, Dayton's Neena Katauskas and Laura Greb defeated
Edie Hammond and
Martyna Piechowicz, 6-3, to earn the team's double point, and the match. In a hard-fought match, the Golden Grizzlies' efforts were not enough against the Flyers.
The Golden Grizzlies are back in action tomorrow. They will head to the University of Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats at 6:30 p.m.. Live stats and video can be found on the website.
