ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies fell to the Wright State Raiders, 7-6, this afternoon on the Oakland Baseball Field.

The Golden Grizzlies (24-22, 12-10 HL) were led by
Brandon Heidal who tallied four hits as
Trent Rice was right behind with three, as Rice led the team with a pair of RBI.

The Raiders (26-18, 15-7 HL) saw four batters record a pair of hits as Gus Gregory led the team with a pair of RBI.

The Raiders got off to a quick start as it scored a trio of runs in the first two innings, but the Golden Grizzlies answered in a big way in the bottom of the second.
Lucas Day led off with a double as
Brandon Heidal followed it up with one of his own. Now with two runners in scoring position,
Carter Hain hit a hard shot to the second baseman as he safely found first and brought home Day.

Oakland continued to tack on its run as
Trent Rice knotted things up at three with no outs. With runners on the corner,
Sam Griffith was hit by a pitch to juice the bases as the Golden Grizzlies converted and crossed two more runs across the plate to cap its five-run inning. The Raiders tacked one on in the fourth to cut the Golden Grizzlies lead down to one at 5-4.

The Raiders clawed back and tied the game up at five after the top of the seventh but the Golden Grizzlies had the opportunity in the bottom with the bases loaded and no outs. The Raiders defense held on but let up a run as Oakland went ahead, 6-5, with six outs to go. The Golden Grizzlies forced three-straight outs in the eighth as it had three more to put the game to rest.

The Raiders knotted things up at six with a lead-off home run and took a one-run lead headed into the bottom of the inning.
Reggie Bussey got on the base pads with no outs as
Brandon Nigh found first, but the Raiders held its own as the Golden Grizzlies fell, 7-6.

The Golden Grizzlies left eight runners on base as the Raiders left six, while Wright State outhit Oakland, 12-11. Oakland tallied five strikeouts while Wright State tallied seven, as five Golden Grizzlies tallied at least a hit.

The Golden Grizzlies return to the diamond tomorrow for game two of its three-game series against the Raiders, with first pitch set for 2:00 p.m. ET.
