DAYTON, Ohio - The Golden Grizzlies exploded for six runs in the fifth as it took the series against the Wright State Raiders after it won, 12-7, this afternoon at Nischwitz Stadium.

The Golden Grizzlies (12-15, 4-5 HL) grabbed hits from seven players as
Aidan Orr led the way with three hits on three at bats, while four Golden Grizzlies had at least two hits.
Reggie Bussey,
Lucas Day and
Carter Hain all batted in a pair of runs, while
Brandon Decker started on the bump and struck out six.

The Raiders (14-13, 5-4 HL) also tallied at least a hit from seven different players as Jay Luikart was the only Raider with more than one with three, as he batted in four runners. Wright State utilized six pitchers in the loss as Garret Simpson struck out five.

Wright State jumped out to a quick lead as a double, followed by a home run, put it up a pair after just one inning of play. The Golden Grizzlies struggled to get its offensive rolling in the beginning of the game as it only recorded two hits through four innings. In that span, the Raiders tacked on another run with a solo home run in the third to bump its lead to three.

The Golden Grizzlies found its groove, however, in the fifth innings as
John Lauinger put himself on first from a single and sped from third to home off an Orr double.
Brandon Heidal drew a walk, as Hain followed suit with a one-run single to inch closer to the Raider's three runs. The Raiders forced its first out, but that didn't stop the Golden Grizzlies as Bussey sent a double towards the gap in left and cleared the two base runners as Oakland had its first lead of the game, 4-3.

A ground out gave the Golden Grizzlies one more out to try and extend its lead and it answered the bell as
Brandon Nigh smacked a triple to bring Bussey home, followed by a Day single to bring Nigh home as the team exploded for six runs in the fifth. The Raiders, however, answered in the following inning as it knotted the game up at six with three innings to go. Wright State followed it up with a RBI single as it grabbed a 7-6 lead after seven.

With six more outs to try and grab the lead, it was crunch time for the Golden Grizzlies to get its offense rolling again. Orr and Heidal both put themselves on the base pads as Hain kept it rolling and batted in Orr, followed by
Jack Lux who gave Oakland the lead once again. The team didn't stop there as it tacked on two more runs in the inning off an error, followed by a balk, to put the pressure on the Raiders.

The Golden Grizzlies defense held its own as it forced the three outs needed in the eighth to give the Raiders one final look in the ninth. Oakland though tacked on a pair of insurance runs to make its lead even greater, at five, as Day hit a lead-off solo shot, followed by Lauinger who crossed the dish off a ground out. Oakland needed three more outs to take the win and the series and it delivered as it forced three-straight outs to take the win, 12-7.

The Golden Grizzlies outhit the Raiders, 12-9, as the Raiders were once again the only team to commit an error. Each team left a handful of runners stranded on the bases as Oakland had two doubles, one triple and one home run as Oakland struck out nine while Wright State struck out 12.

The Golden Grizzlies have a quick turnaround time and return to the diamond Monday (April 1) as it treks to Toledo to take on the Rockets, with first pitch set for 3:00 p.m. ET.
