INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Senior libero Emily Wichmann was named to the 2024 #HLVB All-League Second Team, the Horizon League announced today.

Wichmann, who was named the 2023 Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year, returned for her senior season and was the anchor to the Golden Grizzlies defense. The Crescent Springs, Ky., native was one of two Golden Grizzlies to play all 116 sets and led the team with 581 digs, good for 5.01 digs per set. At the service line, she ranked second on the team with 23 service aces, good for .20 services aces per set.

Her 581 digs and 5.01 digs per set rank third overall in the Horizon League and also ranks third in Horizon League play with 377 digs, good for 5.24 digs per set. In the whole NCAA, Wichmann sits eighth overall in total digs and 21st overall in digs per set. She recorded 31 digs in a three-set match against Robert Morris, good for most in the league in a three-set match, along with 32 digs against Cleveland State for most digs in a four-set match.

A two-time #HLVB All-Academic honoree, Wichmann was named to the Green & White Invitational All-Tournament Team after tallying 65 digs, good for 5.42 digs per set, in a three-match weekend. After setting the Oakland single-season record in digs with 659 last season, Wichmann also inked her name in the Oakland volleyball career record book. She ranks 2nd in digs (1,986), 3rd in digs per set (4.38) and aces (102), t-7th in aces per set (.23) and 8th in sets played (453).
