NORTON, Ohio - The Golden Grizzlies men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Chanpionships, hosted by the University of Akron and the Mid-American Conference, this afternoon with strong finishes from both ends.
The men's team put forth a strong showing at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, finishing 15th overall with 465 points in a deep and competitive field. With an average time of 31:22, the Golden Grizzlies demonstrated depth and determination on the challenging 10K course.
Yami Albrecht led the way for Oakland, clocking an impressive 30:42.3 to secure 62nd place.
Michael Hancock followed closely behind, finishing 75th in 30:58.4.
Wesley Hollowell added another strong performance, crossing the line in 81st place with a time of 31:04.0.
Tristan Brandenburg (31:40.7) and
Carter McCalister (32:22.3) rounded out the top-five, finishing in 102nd and 145th places, respectively.
Collin Farmer (32:32.7) also contributed a solid effort to the team's performance.
The women's team also showcased their grit and consistency, earning 16th place with 485 points and an average 6K time of 21:27.
Grace Nolan led the charge for the Golden Grizzlies with a stellar performance, finishing 38th overall with a time of 20:32.7.
Erin Hegarty was next for Oakland, placing 52nd in 20:42.4, while
Haileigh Bissett contributed a strong showing with her 95th-place finish in 21:21.9.
Brooke Aho (22:12.0) and
Anne May (22:25.5) rounded out the top-five in 147th and 159th places, respectively.
Genavieve Kushner-Lopez (22:44.5) and
Sarah-Rose Sullivan (22:59.5) provided valuable depth to the team effort.
