DAYTON, Ohio – The Oakland volleyball team took down Horizon League preseason favorites, Wright State, with a 25-23, 26-24, 16-25, 25-16 win over the Raiders on Friday night from C.J. McLin Gymnasium.

The Golden Grizzlies (10-7, 4-1 HL) have won three straight matches with the last two coming on the road. Oakland earned its win on Friday behind 14 kills and three blocks by
Anika Prisby and 10 kills and 15 digs by
Patti Cesarini.
Libby Gentile rounded out Oakland's double-digit kill leaders with 10 of her own, adding five digs.

Prisby's 14 kills is a career-best, hitting an impressive .560 on the night, also a career high and the second time this season the sophomore has hit above .500.

Sarah Turner and
Rachel Rossman set the Golden Grizzlies to a .233 hitting percentage with 24 and 23 assists respectively.

The Golden Grizzlies outkilled the Raiders 60-56, while
Emily Wichmann continued to pace Oakland defensively recording a team-high 22 digs. Wright State had nine blocks to seven for the Golden Grizzlies.

Megan Alders had 18 kills to lead Wright State (7-8, 3-1 HL). Oakland snapped the Raiders three-game win streak handing Wright State its first conference loss of the season. Friday's win also marks Oakland's first win in 10 meetings against WSU, and the first road win in Dayton since 2017.

Oakland will travel to Northern Kentucky to take on the Norse Saturday, September 30, at 4 p.m. at Regents Hall. Saturday's match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
