Brown Tabbed as Women's Tennis Head Coach

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University and Director of Athletics Steve Waterfield has tabbed David Brown as the next head coach of the Oakland University Women's Tennis team.

"I am happy that David will lead the OU women's tennis program and welcome him to the OU Athletics family. His decades of success coaching and developing tennis players and his vision for Golden Grizzlies women's tennis impressed me during the search process. I look forward to watching him build the program into a consistent Horizon League championship contender," said Waterfield.

Brown has served as a coach for adults and junior athletes at the Peachtree Tennis Club in Clinton Township since August 2021; training 65 NCAA Division I competitors, 50 at the NCAA Division II level, and 25 at NCAA Division III.

"It is an honor to become a Golden Grizzly," said Brown, "I look forward to leading and shaping the tennis team; making their athletic journey at Oakland University a positive experience."

Coaching multiple United States Tennis Association (USTA) regional and national champions, SEMTA Cup Teams across a variety of age groups, and several zonal teams, Brown adds 20 years of experience at the SEMTA USTA Competetive Training Center as a coach.

Prior to the Peachtree Tennis Club, Brown was a Tennis Pro & Owner of Tennis Academy for the Wimbledon Racquet Club in St. Clair Shores for five years following a tenured career as a Head Tennis Pro, Tennis Director, and Co-Owner of the Port Huron Tennis House from 1995-2017.

Brown attended Oakland University, playing all four years in a Golden Grizzlies uniform as a two-time All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) singles and doubles competitor.
