Golden Grizzlies struggle with cold shooting, turnovers in loss to Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Concluding a two-game road swing, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies were defeated by the Robert Morris Colonials, 74-43, on Saturday, February 11 at the UPMC Events Center.

Their third loss in a row, the Golden Grizzlies are now 11-14 and 6-10 in the Horizon League, while Robert Morris moves to 10-15 and 4-12 in conference play.

Playing 22 minutes off the bench, junior Linda van Schaik tallied a team-high 13 points for Oakland, her first time in double figures since the January 22 date with the IUPUI Jaguars. Sophomore Kennedie Montue, who made her first start since November 26, had eight and fellow junior Alexis Johnson ended with six.

Four Colonials scored in double-digits, led by sophomore Rebecca Dwomoh with 19. Classmates Phoenix Gedeon and Alejandra Mastral and freshman Louella Allana all pitched in 11.

Oakland committed 24 turnovers, their second-most in a game this season, and shot just 23.5 percent (12-51), including 19.2 percent (5-26) from 3-point land.

Robert Morris, meanwhile, had a tremendously efficient afternoon, shooting 48.2 percent (27-56) and 47.4 percent (9-19) from distance.

The Colonials won the rebounding battle, 37-35, and distributed 15 assists to the Golden Grizzlies' seven.
