ROCHESTER, Mich. – In their second-to-last home game of the season, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies suffered an 87-73 Pink Out defeat at the hands of the IUPUI Jaguars on Saturday, February 18 at the O'rena.
In eighth place in the Horizon League, the Golden Grizzlies are now 11-15 and 6-11 in conference play, while IUPUI moves to 15-12 (11-7), good for fourth in the league.
Four Oakland players scored in double figures, led by sophomore
Kennedie Montue with 15, her second-highest total of the season. She was joined by junior
Alexis Johnson and freshman
Brooke Quarles-Daniels, both of whom had 12, and senior
Breanne Beatty with 10.
Marion, Indiana senior Jazmyn Turner paced the Jaguars with a game-high 21 points and West Bloomfield sophomore Logan Lewis added 14 off the bench. Graduate student Destiny Perkins and seniors Rachel Kent and Natalie Andersen also reached double-digits, tallying 10, 11 and 12, respectively.
Saturday was the Golden Grizzlies' 12
th time crossing the 70-point threshold this season, but IUPUI shot a red-hot 50-percent (33-66). Coincidentally, both teams finished 9-25 (36 percent) from 3-point range.
The Jaguars won the rebounding battle, 49-37, and racked up 26 assists to Oakland's 12.

Rounding out the home portion of their 2022-23 schedule, the Golden Grizzlies will battle the rival Detroit Mercy Titans on Monday, February 20 at 7 p.m. in a contest that will be brought to you by the Detroit Sports Commission and will air on TV20 WMYD.
Monday will serve as the program's Senior Night, which this year, includes only one student-athlete, point guard
Raquel Ferrer-Bernad.
A steady backcourt presence in her first year with Oakland after two seasons in Conference USA (C-USA) with the Florida International Panthers, Ferrer-Bernad has played in all 26 games in 2022-23, starting 21, and is fifth on the team with 20 3-pointers, including one Saturday.
