CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Oakland volleyball team completed the series sweet over Cleveland State on Friday in a big five-set road win from Woodling Gymnasium.

Friday's win gives the Golden Grizzlies a 6-1 record in five set matches this season and moves Oakland to 16-11, 10-5 in Horizon League play. The 10 conference wins is the first time Oakland has recorded double-digit Horizon League victories since 2017.Â

The Golden Grizzlies (16-11, 10-5 HL) dropped sets one (25-17) and three (25-20) but were able to edge out the Vikings, 25-21 in the second set. Oakland was able to rally in the final two sets, 25-16, 15-9 to secure the win, its fourth in five matches.Â

Six Golden Grizzlies recorded double-digit digs led by
Emily Wichmann with 27.

Patti Cesarini (17),
Rachel Rossman (13),
Ella Martin and
Sarah Turner with 10 a piece rounded out Oakland's dig leaders.

Cesarini, Martin and
Gentry Brown each registered 14 kills, while
Libby Gentile tallied 12 kills of her own. Martin's 14 kills is a career-best as the sophomore hit an impressive team-best .444 on the night.
Sarah Turner tallied 26 assists to go with her 10 digs, giving the Lugoff, S.C. native her 12th double-double on the year. Rossman contributed 21 assists giving her a double-double coupled with her 10 digs, her 10th of the season. Wichmann chipped in 10 assists as well.

Oakland had a 119-113 edge in digs, blocks (10-9), kills (63-62 and assists (62-60). The Vikings had five service aces compared to Oakland's one.
Laken Voss had 18 kills for Cleveland State (14-12, 8-7 HL).Â

With just three regular season games remaining, Oakland will host IUPUI in its last home match of the season Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. from the OU Credit Union O'rena.
