Oakland Volleyball Sweeps IUPUI, 3-0, in Regular Season Home Finale

ROCHESTER, Mich. - In its home finale, the Oakland volleyball team went wire-to-wire in three sets against IUPUI and completed the season sweep with a win, 3-0, Tuesday night at the OU Credit Union O'Rena.
 
The Golden Grizzlies swept the Jaguars, 27-25, 25-21, 25-20, to match its best win total in six years with two games in hand.
 
The Golden Grizzlies (17-11, 11-5 HL) have won five of its last six matches and is t-3rd with Green Bay in the Horizon League standings.
 
Ainsley Guse led the way offensively with 10 kills, followed by a strong performance from Gentry Brown with nine kills.
 
On the defensive end, Patti Cesarini recorded nine digs to top the scoresheet with Emily Wichmann close behind with eight.
 
As a team, the Golden Grizzlies totaled 31 digs and 36 kills, with a hitting percentage of .281.
 
Maia Long led the Jaguars (9-18, 3-13 HL) with 10 kills.
 
Oakland fell behind in the first set as the Jaguars forced set-point on four separate occasions, but the Golden Grizzlies battled back to take set one, 27-25, and set the momentum going forward.
 
Another tight set followed as both teams traded points, however, Oakland never lost control and eventually took the second set, 25-21.
 
With control of the match, the Golden Grizzlies didn't look back and ran away with the third set, 25-20, to complete the sweep.
 
The Golden Grizzlies hit the road to wrap up the regular season in Wisconsin with a pair of crucial conference matches. On Friday, Oakland will square off against Green Bay at 7 p.m. ET, followed by the season finale at Milwaukee Saturday night with first serve at 5 p.m. ET.
