ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland volleyball team earned its first win at home against Cleveland State since 2019 as the Golden Grizzlies defeated the Vikings 3-1 Friday night at the OU Credit Union O'rena for the annual Dig For a Cure game.

The Golden Grizzlies took down Cleveland State, 25-18, 27-25, 19-25, 29-27, for the first win over the Vikings in six meetings.

Oakland (11-8, 5-1 HL) has won four of its last five matches and currently sits fourth in the Horizon League standings.

Oakland earned its win on Friday behind 14 kills from
Patti Cesarini and
Libby Gentile. Freshman
Gentry Brown rounded out Oakland's double-digit kill leaders with 10 kills on the night.

Rachel Rossman set the Golden Grizzlies to a .240 hitting percentage with 32 and 22 assists respectively.

Oakland will welcome Milwaukee and Green Bay to Rochester Friday and Saturday. Friday's match against Milwaukee will serve as Alumni Day and is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+. Oakland will honor its seniors on Saturday, Oct. 14 against the Phoenix beginning at 4 p.m.
