Oakland Snaps NKU’s Five-Game Win Streak In Five-Set Thriller

ROCHESTER, Mich. – After dropping the first two sets, the Oakland volleyball team came back to win three-straight and take the match from visiting Northern Kentucky (21-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-21, 15-10) Friday from the OU Credit Union O'rena.
 
Friday's win over the Norse marks the second-straight five-set victory for the Golden Grizzlies (15-10, 9-4 HL) and third-straight win.
 
Libby Gentile had 15 kills and six blocks to lead the Golden Grizzlies to victory, while Patti Cesarini finished with 12 kills and nine digs. Christina Bohm added a career-best seven kills.
 
Ainsley Guse was a presence at the net recording two block solos and six block assists, including one to seal Oakland's win in the fifth set. The junior also chipped in five kills.
 
Emily Wichmann recorded her third 30-plus dig game this season, registering 30 on the night, while fellow defensive specialist Kennedy Dolmage recorded a career-best 25 digs while also adding an impressive five aces.
 
Sarah Turner recorded her 11th double-double of the season tallying 17 assists and 13 digs. Rachel Rossman added a team-best 23 assists.
 
Abby Kanakry and Joy Banks had 20 kills apiece to pace Northern Kentucky (14-10, 9-4 HL). 
 
The Norse hit .173 in the match and committed 27 attacking errors. Oakland hit .138, with 25 errors on the night.
 
Oakland will host Wright State on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m. at the OU Credit Union O'rena for Volleyween. Fans are encouraged to wear a costume for free entry into the game and participate in a costume contest. Saturday's match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
