Rochester, Mich. - After hundreds of miles ran, hundreds of runners passed, the men's and women's cross country programs are set to end their seasons this weekend at the #HLXC Championship in Fairborn, Ohio.
The women's team had four runners compete in the EMU Fall Classic on Friday, Oct. 20. Sophomore
Haileigh Bissett, Freshman
Mackenzie Lemke, freshman Genavive Kushner-Lopez, and graduate student Karenna Duffrey ran in the final tune-up of the season, all placing respectably high in a field of over 70 runners.
For the rest of the women's team and the men's team, it's been nearly two weeks since they hit the trail, but proper rest is needed before the biggest meet of the season.
In their four team meets this season, the Women's Cross Country Team has placed in the top four in three of those meets. Graduate student
Grace Nolan is having an amazing season, having placed in the top ten in three meets, including a fifth place finish at the Mike Baumer Invitational on Sept. first. She is looking to repeat her past performances and finish atop the standings this weekend as well.
On the men's side, they have finished in the top half of every meet they have competed in. Their lead runner is graduate student
Yami Albrecht, who has been a staple in the top four of their meets, including a second place finish at the Jaguar Invitational on Sept. 15.
In what is the only league specific meet of the year, Oakland looks to leave their mark on the Horizon League Cross Country landscape this Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.
