Volleyball Drops Tough-Fought Match to Wright State

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Volleyball fell in four sets to visiting Wright State in the Athletics Center O'rena on Saturday.

The Golden Grizzlies would jump out to a 6-3 advantage fueled by Madison Ross and four attacking errors by the Raiders before the game would go back-and-forth for a few rallys, eventually getting tied in the middle of the frame at 18-18.

Wright State would win the race to 20 in the first set before Jessica Riedl and Libby Gentile would take matters into their own hands to retake the lead, finishing on a 3-1 run off Clarke Adams and two more WSU errors to win the first set 26-24.

It would take extra points in the second as well to finish this one off with Anika Prisby and Patti Cesarini making their presence known as the Golden Grizzlies did not let the Raiders out of their sights. An attacking error by WSU would knot things up at 23-23 as Cesarini would get the 24th point and the edge before the Raiders finished on a 3-0 run to tie it up at one set apiece.

The Raiders jumped out to a 5-0 run in the third en route to a close 25-22 set victory that saw Oakland get to 20 first though falling in the last couple of rallies not without Cesarini's efforts. In the final frame, the Golden Grizzlies saw Wright State slip away in the final moments in the team's second Horizon League loss.
