ROCHESTER, Mich. – On Friday, Oakland University Volleyball fell to Northern Kentucky in the Athletics Center O'rena 3-0 in straight sets.
Libby Gentile and Patti Cesarini would kick things off for Oakland as the Golden Grizzlies would have to battle tooth and nail with the Norse at the 12-12 mark in the first set before NKU would burst out to a 5-0 run at 18-14. With the visiting black at set point, Oakland would pile on a 6-0 streak with Cesarini, Jessica Riedl, and Norse errors but would fall 25-23 after one.
Northern Kentucky would pile on a ten-point win in the second set to take the 2-0 lead following a 25-15 frame before Oakland would put pressure on the Norse in the third. Madison Ross would get things going in a back-and-forth affair elevated by Riedl, Gentile, and Cesarini through the rest of the set.
Down the stretch, it was NKU that would pull away in the end but not without a 3-0 Golden Grizzly scary streak.
