ROCKET WATTS JOINS MEN'S BASKETBALL ROSTER

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Men's Basketball and Head Coach Greg Kampe have announced the transfer of Rocket Watts to the 2022-23 roster.

Watts played in 19 games for the Bulldogs averaging 4.4 points per contest with 0.9 rebounds as the Detroit native started in one game against LSU on February 12. The 6-2 guard posted a season-high 15 points against Lamar University (Texas) while counting up 11 and 10 against South Carolina and Texas Tech, respectively.

Prior to his time at Mississippi State, Watts spent two seasons at Michigan State in a Spartan uniform, named to the 2019-20 All-Big Ten Freshman Team while totaling 460 points, 121 assists, and 110 rebounds for the green and white.

At 38.9% from the field at MSU in 2019-20, Watts was the fourth-leading scorer on that roster that finished the season 22-9 with a No. 8 ranking in the USA Today Coaches Poll, No. 9 in the AP Poll.

Coming out of high school from the SPIRE Institute, Watts was a four star recruit and ranked No. 33 nationally by ESPN for the class of 2019 as a three-time All-State First Team selection along with a gold medal for the USA U18 team at the 2018 FIBA Americas Championship.

Watts joins Lorne Bowman, Keaton Hervey, and Choul Deng as transfers to the roster for this upcoming season.
