INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – At 23-15 overall and 18-7 in the conference, the Oakland University Softball team are 2022 Horizon League regular season champions and have earned the number one overall seed in the 2022 #HLSB Tournament set for May 11-14 in Youngstown, Ohio.

Oakland will be granted a first-round bye off the seeding, playing the winner between No. 5 seed Green Bay and No. 4 seed Robert Morris on Thursday, May 12 at noon. On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 Cleveland State will await the winner between No. 6 Northern Kentucky and No. 3 Youngstown State.

The double elimination tournament featured both the Golden Grizzlies and UIC Flames in the championship match which saw the latter of the two teams qualify for the NCAA Tournament in 2021.

This is the first time Oakland has clinched the regular season title since 2015 as OU appeared in the Ann Arbor regional of the NCAA Tournament.
