OAKLAND TO HOST IUPUI AND NKU IN HOME HORIZON LEAGUE MATCHES

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Horizon League play returns home for Oakland University Tennis as the team will host IUPUI and Northern Kentucky on April 15-16 at the Bloomfield Tennis and Fitness Center in Bloomfield Township with 4:30 p.m. start times both days.

Liza Mladentseva emerged with a 2-0 sweep of her opponent at Notre Dame by scores of 7-6 (7-1) and 6-2 as the Golden Grizzlies fell 6-1 in non-conference play last Sunday. 

Mladentseva is 8-4 overall this year, 7-3 in the number one singles position while Mia Melnizki is 6-5 between numbers five and six. Mladentseva is currently on a four-game winning streak following the match against the Fighting Irish.

Nirva Patel and Yasmin Glazbrook are 8-3 overall in number one doubles to lead the team as Jillian Milano and Mladentzeva hold a 4-1 record at the number two position.

SCOUTING REPORT

IUPUI

The Jaguars sit 2-17 on the year, 0-4 in league play with their only wins coming against Western Illinois and Bellarmine at home by the same score of 5-2. IUPUI leaked two losses last weekend in Indianapolis to Cleveland State (7-0) and Youngstown State (5-2), respectively.

Meghan Bernard has the Jaguars' best record in singles at 11-17 overall, 0-3 at the number one spot and 4-9 at the number two spot, as she and Samantha Hayward are the number one doubles duo at 5-10, 6-16 overall together as the only competitors for IUPUI with multiple wins. 

NORTHERN KENTUCKY

NKU is also 2-10 overall and winless at 0-4 in Horizon League play coming off similar scores against Youngstown State and Cleveland State at home last weekend. The Norse's only wins of the 2022 campaign have come against Saint Francis (Pa.) and Thomas More, a NAIA program.

Sylvia Gray of NKU is one of two members with a positive record at 7-5 overall in singles play spanning from the four to six spot while Maria Koo has held down the number one position at 6-5. Koo and Laura Sola Grau have posted an even 4-4 record in number one doubles.
