OAKLAND ROLLS TO VICTORY OVER SAGINAW VALLEY

Golden Grizzlies extend win streak to season-long three games

Rochester, Mich. – Scoring 12 times in the first three innings, Oakland cruised to a 13-2 home victory over the Division II Saginaw Valley Cardinals, a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), on Tuesday, March 29.

With the win, the Golden Grizzlies improve to 10-12 and move their winning streak to a season-long three games.

Graduate student second baseman Brad Goulet and senior right fielder Michael Stygles both tallied home runs as part of a 10-hit team effort.

Lefty graduate student Chas Sagedahl started for Oakland and recorded the first six outs, while freshman right-hander Hunter Pidek, a Troy Athens graduate, worked the third through sixth innings and picked up the first win of his collegiate career.

Following Pidek, graduate student Quinton Kujawa, redshirt senior southpaw Christian Stelling, and junior Brandon Deans each tossed one frame for the Golden Grizzlies.

Allowing five earned runs in his two innings, freshman righty JJ Arbini took the loss for Saginaw Valley.

Up next
Oakland will not have long to celebrate this victory, as the team will hit the road to play again tomorrow, Wednesday, March 30, against the Michigan Wolverines, a member of the Big Ten Conference (B1G), at 4 p.m.

Junior left-hander Travis Densmore, who hails from Mesa, Ariz., will start for the Golden Grizzlies.

Densmore has made five appearances this season, four of which have come in relief, and owns a 1-0 record, 6.91 ERA, four walks, and 15 strikeouts in 14.1 innings.

In his one start, a March 16 home victory over NAIA Rochester University, he logged three shutout innings, holding the Warriors to three hits, and striking out five while not walking a batter.
