Box Score VALPARAISO, Ind. – The Oakland tennis team dropped its final non-conference meeting of the season to Valparaiso Sunday afternoon from The Courts of NWI, falling to the Crusaders, 5-2.
Oakland came out blazing, winning all three doubles matches, and earning the doubles point to take the early 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Yasmin Glazbrook and
Nirva Patel earned the hard fought 7-6 (7-5) win at the no. 1 doubles spot, while
Liza Mladentseva and
Jillian Milano (6-2), and
Tegan Heaton and
Emma Hultqvist (6-3) won in no. 2 and no. 3 doubles respectively.
Valpo responded in singles play, winning in the one through five spots. Hultqvist was the lone Golden Grizzly to earn a singles point, defeating her opponent, 6-3, 6-3.
Sunday's loss snapped the Golden Grizzlies' three-game win streak, handing Oakland just its second loss in seven matches.
The Golden Grizzlies (6-5) will open Horizon League play at Cleveland State, Friday April 1.
