ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland men's soccer graduate Dylan Borczak has signed a professional contract with the Rio Grande Valley FC.
"I'm just a kid from Detroit that grew up loving the game of soccer. All the hardships and challenges I've faced in my life have been preparing me for this moment. I can't express how grateful I am to start a career playing the sport I love so much," Borczak said. "I just wanted to say thank you to my family, my friends, and my coaches for helping me along the way. I'm ready to get started and prove everyone wrong again."
This season Borczak captured all-conference accolades for the third time in his monumental career as a Golden Grizzly. The redshirt senior from Detroit, Mich., ranked eighth in the HL in goals per game (0.39) and total goals (7). His shooting accuracy (.565) sits 24th nationally and atop of the league.
"We are very proud of Dylan and excited for this amazing opportunity for him to sign his first professional contract with Rio Grande Valley FC Toros in the USL Championship. Dylan has worked extremely hard over the last 5+ years to make this opportunity become a reality," Head Coach Eric Pogue said.
"He took a long and difficult path from Detroit Western International HS and Eastside FC club to Schoolcraft College (JUCO) to Oakland University, but he has continued to work hard on his game throughout and continuously improved each year," Pogue added. "We look forward to watching him throughout this season down in the southernmost tip of Texas....#ParaElValle!!"
